36 Hours per week

Salary:  £23,866 - £26,470 plus £857 Inner Fringe Allowance per annum

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate looking for, or someone experienced to join Epping Forest District Council whilst working in partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions.

The post of Community Support Engagement Officer is an innovative new role supporting local residents of Epping Forest on their journey into employment.

You will be responsible for supporting customers with complex needs in the District. Working with partners to form part of a seamless multi agency support package focusing on employment as the route way out of a chaotic lifestyle and ensuring that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) offer is fully understood across the partnership.

We are seeking someone who is a good communicator and who can work under pressure with the flexibility to manage more than one task and case at a time. You will demonstrate self-confidence, determination to overcome setbacks and able to identify alternative solutions to meet objectives. You will also need to use empathy and on occasions the ability to apply a strict but fair approach to achieve a common goal.

Employed by Epping Forest District Council on a one year fixed term basis this post will be an integral part of the Community Safety Team and will engage with the Community Safety Hub and other relevant partners to ensure that vulnerable people have access to specialist services and support as required.

The role will utilise both internal and external resources and whilst predominately based within Loughton Job Centre the successful candidate will also spend time with the Community Safety Team in Epping.

The role involves dealing with extremely sensitive information from council and partner agencies so the ability to communicate positively to a mixed audience of specialists and non-specialists is essential.
