If you're not registered, you can't vote! Register to vote online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.

The next election is on Thursday 3 May 2018

Individual electoral registration (IER) requires each person to register to vote individually, rather than by household.

You need to provide 'identifying information' such as your date of birth and national insurance number when applying to register. Your application will need to be verified before you are added to the register. Anyone unable to supply this information can provide an alternative form of evidence of their identity.

How to register

  1. Go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote (registering online takes about 5 minutes)
  2. Fill in your name, address, date of birth and a few other details. You’ll also need your national insurance number, which can be found on your national insurance card, or in official paperwork such as payslips, or letters about benefits or tax credits
  3. Look out for a confirmation to say you’re registered

If you've just moved house, you will need to register to vote again. Make sure you include your previous address when completing the online form so you can be removed from the register at your old address.
