Keeping residents digitally connected
If you have a smartphone, tablet or laptop that you no longer need, why not donate it to Power UP! Epping and help local families get access to digital services.
Have you got an unwanted device?
We’re asking residents and businesses to bring unwanted smartphones, tablets, laptops and PCs to our civic offices in Epping. All donated items will be securely wiped and refurbished before being redistributed to residents in the district. Any items that cannot be reused will be recycled.
Research from 2019 shows 16% of adults (that’s about 21,000 people) in the Epping Forest district had never used the internet, or not used the internet over a 3-month period.
The scheme aims to bridge the digital divide by enabling individuals and families who otherwise would have struggled to access vital services such as education, employment, healthcare and contact with loved ones.
Power UP! Epping
Epping Forest District Council (EFDC) has teamed up with Voluntary Action Epping Forest (VAEF) to launch this hardware donation scheme, and part of the Power UP! Epping programme.
Give local people the opportunity to use vital digital services
Many of us have old phones and devices at home that we no longer use, so why not donate them to this scheme? You’ll free up space, do your bit for the environment and give local people the opportunity to use vital digital services – a win-win for all.
We are thrilled to work alongside Voluntary Action Epping Forest to make a tangible difference in our community. Together, we can ensure that everyone in our community has the opportunity to connect, engage, and thrive.
Councillor Holly Whitbread, EFDC Finance Portfolio Holder
