Community Champions become a constituted group

Community news, News

The Epping Forest Community Champions are a dedicated group of 25 volunteers from across the district, united by their mission to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents.

By sharing insights and experiences from their communities, they aim to foster happier, healthier, and more connected communities.

New opportunities

Forming a constituted group has unlocked new opportunities for the Community Champions, enabling them to apply for funding and expand their initiatives. This step allows them to further their vision to build on the skills and knowledge of local people to create, happy, friendly and healthy communities across the Epping Forest district.

Thanks to their constituted status, the group has already achieved significant milestones in securing funding to support their local projects:

  • Essex County Council funding has helped to facilitate Multiply sessions in Waltham Abbey and Nazeing, part of a government programme designed to help adults enhance their numeracy skills.
  • Qualis sponsorship has supported several local football teams, encouraging sports and community engagement.
  • Essex County Council Locality funding provided a local community group with the opportunity to enjoy a memorable day trip.
