New Pay and Display Machines

Upgrading pay & display machines

Community news, Leisure and culture news, News

The pay & display machines in the Epping Forest District Council off-street car parks are being upgraded in early April.

The upgrade will provide a more convenient and reliable parking experience.

Card, contactless, mobile and cash

The new machines will offer more payment options, including card (chip and contactless) and mobile payments, making parking quicker and easier. Every machine will accept card and contactless payments, including Google Pay and Apple Pay, to improve accessibility for all users.

Each car park will continue to have at least one machine that accepts cash payments for those who prefer to pay with cash. Burton Road South and Oakwood Hill East car parks will be card and contactless payment only. The MiPermit virtual parking app will continue to be available across all car parks.

Work will begin in early April and will be completed in phases to minimise disruption to users.

Thank you for your patience

Cllr Ken Williamson, Portfolio Holder for Shaping Our District said:

This upgrade is necessary as the existing machines have reached the end of their designed lifespan. The new machines are designed to be more reliable and user-friendly, with clear on-screen instructions to guide users through the payment process.

Thank you for your patience as we complete these improvements.
