Meet the 2024 – 2026 Youth Councillors
Orient Ainapore

3 reasons for standing
- Mental health support for teenagers in our community. School can be a stressful and unsafe environment. I want to change this by introducing community counsellors for students that are completely confidential and free
- I would like to create more opportunities for young people to volunteer within the community. This would be beneficial for both the groups that will receive volunteering help, particularly during the cost-of-living crisis and the young people will benefit by contributing towards others, learning essential life skills and gaining credits for D of E and/or university/college entry
- Creating more local events for young people to participate in, in order to enhance the sense of community within Epping Forest
Personal campaign statement
I believe I would be an excellent candidate for Youth Council. As a former School Councillor at Bancroft’s, I
gained valuable experience communicating my peer’s views to the board of directors at my school. This role improved my understanding of effective communication and collaboration, crucial qualities for representing our community.
Active participation in debating clubs has honed my skills in articulation and critical thinking. I believe clear expression is essential for representing my community. My upcoming involvement in Model United Nations will further develop my diplomatic and negotiation skills. I will be joining in January as I am currently under the age limit.
I am genuinely passionate about becoming a Youth Councillor for Epping Forest. I am committed to empowering our youth, recognising their importance for the community’s development. Epping Forest’s diversity is a strength, and I will work tirelessly to ensure all voices are heard and valued.
Mental health in schools is a priority for me. I would like to help both schools and local community groups create safe and supportive environments to help students so that every young person feels they have somewhere to turn – beyond their families -when in need.
Community building is another one of my passions. Through collaborative initiatives and events, I aim to strengthen bonds among Epping Forest’s young people, creating a supportive network for all ages.
I also stand for creating more volunteering opportunities for young people in Epping Forest as these are presently hard to find. These would be hugely beneficial for all involved.
In conclusion, I am excited about representing Epping Forest’s youth as a Youth Councillor. My experiences
as a School Councillor and involvement in debating clubs, coupled with my upcoming participation in Model UN, equip me with the skills needed to be an effective advocate. I am passionate about giving back to the community and ensuring that young people have the strong voice that they so desperately need.
