Youth Council celebrate HRH Duke of Gloucester’s Golden Jubilee
Epping Forest Youth Council joined HRH Duke of Gloucester, on Friday 14 February, to celebrate his Golden Jubilee as an Epping Forest Ranger.
Passion for the forest
Youth Councillors also met with Deputy Lieutenant Dr. James Bettley, MP Neil Hudson, Loughton Town Mayor and several dignitaries from the City of London including Ben Murphy, Chairman of the Epping Forest and Commons Committee.
To honour the occasion, Youth Councillors Yuvan, Oscar, Millie and Izellah delivered a presentation expressing their passion for the forest and highlighting the significance of Epping Forest in the community.
Tranquil woodland
It is astonishing that we live so close to our capital city, yet within 8,000 acres of tranquil woodland—a site of special scientific interest—we can find refuge from urban life.
Oscar Ruthven, Youth Councillor
Safeguard our natural heritage
Thanks to the dedication of conservation volunteers, the City of London Corporation, and local authorities, much has been done to safeguard our natural heritage. Yet, we must recognise that the work is never complete. We must continue to engage, educate, and enforce measures to ensure its preservation for future generations.
Millie Thompson, Youth Councillor
Make a pledge
The young people of the Epping Forest district ask you all to commit to do whatever you can to preserve this irreplaceable treasure, ensuring that future generations may walk its paths, breathe its air, and find solace in its beauty, just as we have.
Yuvan Kumar, Youth Councillor
